hello
We are Halina & Alan Vosburgh.
In February of 2020 Halina was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), which is a very rare type of Cancer that is found in only about 0.2% of yearly Cancer diagnosis, (stats taken for the United States).
In 2014 Halina started feeling pain in her neck and started having some issue swallowing so she had a CT Scan but nothing was found. In 2019 Halina had another CT Scan and again the same result, at that time the doctor had prescribed a few different medications but this did n0t have any effect. Halina insisted there was something wrong so in January of 2020 another ENT looked over her last CT Scan and noticed something at the base of her tongue at which point a biopsy was ordered and performed
Halina’s Cancer had developed on the back of her tongue which is even more rare, and because Radiation or Chemotherapy are not effective on this type of Cancer the only alternative was a total Glossectomy, (total removal of her tongue).
We want to share Halina’s journey with you and talk about the challenges and obstacles that she faced along the way and to show how this has affected the people around her who are there to help and support her.
“All we’ve got is hope, and we hang on to that every single day.”
